Diode-Array Data Analysis

With the optional Chromeleon PDA license, you can acquire full-spectrum data from selected diode-array detectors. Those data can then be processed on any Chromeleon® client station for 3-D data rendering, peak purity analysis, and compound identification based on spectral library matches. All of these capabilities are fully and seamlessly integrated into Chromeleon®-you never feel like you're working with a separate piece of software.


With the MS option, Chromeleon offers full control, data acquisition, and data processing for the Thermo MSQ and AQA mass spectrometers. You can check the mass spectrum of an eluting peak in real time, compare mass spectra corresponding to different chromatographic peaks-even overlay TIC and SIM chromatograms with data from UV, fluorescence, and conductivity detectors to confirm analyte identities and spot impurities.

Custom Sample Variables and Peak Variables

Access the full power of Chromeleon's built-in spreadsheet using Chromeleon's optional Report Publisher. Add columns to the sequence to store lot codes, expiration dates, sampling points, special correction factors, and other variables that have a correspondence of one per sample. Add columns to the peak tables to store calibration standard descriptions, purity factors, stability factors, and other variables that differ from compound to compound.

Custom variables can be any of several data types (text, integer, floating point value, date/time field, or "pick list"), and once defined, are available throughout the software for labeling, calculations, database queries, and reporting.

Custom Formulas

With Chromeleon's optional Report Publisher, you can access the full power of Chromeleon's built-in spreadsheet. Create your own formulas in standard Microsoft Excel syntax, using a library of over 120 worksheet functions such as IF, AVERAGE, STDEV, and LOOKUP. Use cross-references between worksheets to share calculated values across multiple report sections, or to separate intermediate calculations from the final presentation. And because the Report Publisher also supports charting, you can present results graphically for easier interpretation.

Software Development Kit

Want even more flexibility? Need a completely customized user interface, or a solution that integrates Chromeleon with other software products? The Chromeleon Software Development Kit (SDK) gives you the tools you need to develop such custom solutions. Challenging samples such as environmental and waste water often contain compound concentrations that exceed the range defined by a standard curve. Operators would need to identify these outliers, dilute the samples, and often rerun the standards along with the diluted samples. These time consuming steps have now been eliminated with a software enhancement called AutoDilution.

The AutoDilution license enables Chromeleon to automatically determine when compound concentrations exceed a set concentration, perform a dilution of these samples, and rerun them along with standards if needed.

The basic operation uses a smaller injection volume in the existing loop.

Depending on the hardware setup, the following options are available:

  • Smaller injection volume in the existing loop using partial loop injections with the AS Autosampler.
  • Vial-to-vial dilution performed with the AS Autosampler using the Sample Prep module.
  • Secondary loop fill and injection using additional valves like the ones available for the AS Autosampler, AS-DV, ICS-1100/1600/2100, and in the Automation Manager for the DC Detector/Chromatography Compartment.

Note: The AutoDilution option provides the same capabilities as the Extended Fractionation License and will appear as "Extended Fractionation Collection" in the license features list.



Distributed client/server: "server" software module manages all real-time instrument control and data acquisition tasks; "client" software module provides all user interface functions. Any number of client instances can connect to any number of server instances. Client and server modules can be used together on the same PC (a "workstation"), or on separate PCs ("instrument controllers" and "remote clients").

  • Multiple Network Control permits instruments attached to a workstation or instrument controller to be accessed and controlled through remote clients, and provides network failure protection.

Security can be implemented at 3 levels: operating system, database, and application. At the application level, over 100 chromatography-specific privileges can be separately controlled for an unlimited number of Privilege Groups.
